Questions
Frequently asked questions
What Travel SOS does, what it costs, and what it deliberately doesn't claim.
What exactly is Travel SOS?+
An independent guidance service. You tell us what happened — luggage, a lost or stolen passport, or a journey that has collapsed — and we turn it into a clear, ordered list of what to do next, along with official contacts and messages you can send.
What situations do you cover?+
Three areas at the moment: luggage that is delayed, lost, damaged or has items missing; passports and travel documents that are lost or stolen; and being stranded by a cancellation, missed connection or major disruption. You can also build a readiness plan before you travel.
Are you an insurance company, a law firm, an embassy or an airline?+
No. Travel SOS is none of those things and we do not act as an airline or government representative. We don't give legal advice and we don't handle claims on your behalf.
Will I get compensation?+
We can't promise any compensation or outcome, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we can do is help you take the right steps, in the right order, with the right evidence.
Is this for emergencies happening right now?+
Yes — choose "I need help now" and you'll have an action plan in about two minutes. If you're not travelling yet, "Plan ahead" builds a readiness plan instead. For anything life-threatening, contact the local emergency services first.
Does it cost anything?+
The questionnaire, your personalised checklist, the official contacts and the message templates are free. SOS Ready (£7.99) and SOS Plus (£19.99) are optional one-off upgrades for a case summary and guided follow-up.
What if I don't have my bag tag, boarding pass or passport copy?+
That's very common and not the end of the road. Your checklist will include practical ways to reconstruct the evidence from emails, apps, bank statements, hotel records and airline records.
How do you handle my information?+
We keep what you submit to a minimum and never sell it. Your questionnaire answers stay in your browser session for the checklist itself; see the privacy page for the full picture.
Can I get help over WhatsApp?+
WhatsApp support is currently unavailable. You can use our Contact page to send a message.
Which airlines and countries do you cover?+
The guidance is written to work internationally. Because rules differ by route, airline and country, your checklist always tells you to confirm specific deadlines directly with your airline.
